Formally qualified blacksmith and workplace trainer Jim Deering owns and operates Wilkur Forge, assisted by experienced specialists for some courses.

Wilkur Forge has an extensive array of forging gear available for our training course participants to learn with.
The equipment list includes;
Open hearth coke forges, anvils, hand hammers, blacksmith's tooling (such as flatters, swages, punches, drifts and fullers), mechanical and pneumatic hammers and numerous other hand and power tools.
As a purpose-built facility Wilkur Forge has been created to provide a first-class blacksmithing, tool making and (coming soon) knife making training environment.
With a broad array of heating plant, forging tools and machinery, Wilkur Forge offers people with all levels of experience the opportunity to learn about working hot metal.
Our carefully designed and structured courses build on one another to enlighten and educate course participants.
Whether you just want to try a few hours of blacksmithing, are an enthusiastic beginner, somewhat experienced, or an old hand, Wilkur Forge has courses on offer to help you increase your blacksmithing know-how.

Never tried blacksmithing but want to? Wilkur Forge offers One Day Forge, an introductory blacksmithing course, for complete novices to try their hand at forging.
Wilkur Forge's Basic courses introduce you to the fundamentals of blacksmithing with hand and machine tools.
From there we build your competence and know-how as you progress through our more involved Hand and Power Forging courses.
